HAA SUMMER FESTIVAL

The Haa Summer Festival is a vibrant alpine celebration in the scenic Haa Valley. Typically held in July, it showcases Bhutan’s traditional nomadic heritage, unique regional cuisine, mask dances, and rare high-altitude flora—including the native White Poppy.

  • Nomadic Culture: Witness traditional yak shearing, yak-hair tent making, and wool processing.
  • Traditional Sports: Participate in or watch competitions like Khuru (dart throwing) and traditional wrestling.
  • Local Cuisine: Sample Haa-specific delicacies like Hoentey (buckwheat dumplings), Puta (buckwheat noodles), and enjoy the local Ara (barley/rice wine) around a bonfire.
  • Performances: Enjoy lively folk songs, Yak Cham (Yak Dance), and religious masked dances
